Privacy Policy
Last updated June 25, 2026. This is the practical launch privacy policy for Recipe Butler and should be reviewed by counsel before a broad public launch.
Who we are
Recipe Butler is a kitchen app for saving recipes, planning meals, building shopping lists, and discovering creator recipes, available on the web and as an iOS app.
Information you provide
When you create an account we store your email address and, if you sign in with Apple, the identifier Apple shares with us. As you use the app we store the content you create: recipes you import or write, edits and notes, meal plans, shopping lists, cookbooks, and your dietary preferences, including saved allergens and foods you choose to avoid. If you publish creator content or make a purchase, we store the related listing, order, and payout records.
Information collected automatically
We collect basic technical and usage information needed to run the service reliably, such as device and app version, and logs of errors and key actions. We do not sell your personal information.
How we use your information
We use your information to provide and improve the app: to extract and organize recipes, generate shopping lists, estimate nutrition and allergens, surface relevant recipes and grocery deals, process purchases and creator payouts, and keep your data in sync across the web and iOS.
Service providers
We share data with vendors only as needed to run Recipe Butler: Convex (application database and backend), Stripe (payments, subscriptions, and creator payouts), Google Gemini and other AI providers (recipe extraction, nutrition and allergen estimates, grocery parsing, and image generation), Apify (importing recipes from links you share), and Resend (transactional email such as password resets). These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and security practices.
Grocery deal emails
If you opt in to deal matching, forwarded store emails are parsed to match grocery items you watch. This is optional and used only to surface relevant sales to you.
Sharing with a partner
If you connect a household partner, the library, meal plan, and shopping data you choose to share become visible to that partner. You can manage or end sharing in the app.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your content in the app, and you can request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us at support@recipebutler.app. Some records (for example, payment and tax records) may be retained as required by law.
Security
We use reputable infrastructure and reasonable safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and limit access to it.
Children
Recipe Butler is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
